Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in every instalment.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady belief and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the core of humanity through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
