NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , after last week's discussion about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the number of penalties both conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.
But it proved positive to see how Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome that deficit before lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory by four points.
Denver have the top defender in CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.
They had effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers but they could position two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
Early on of the season, it was noted on a program that Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended last season strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled big and new RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that the Broncos are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, and using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the area vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.
Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton likes that attitude, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. He can really develop him the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the success Denver are having on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
