Heavy Downpours Aggravate Conditions for Displaced Residents of Gaza, Agencies Alert
Heavy rains over the past week have compounded the already dire circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the region, as reported by relief groups.
"Awful" Weather Creates Serious Risks
A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"Last night was really difficult for the residents. The downpours were so powerful... And the gales were so forceful," noted the representative.
Authorities voice significant anxiety that minors sheltering in makeshift shelters in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and various illnesses.
Deaths and Widespread Loss
The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in structural failures triggered by the harsh conditions.
Other reports indicate a higher death toll. Authorities stated that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Distribution Deemed Inadequate
Organizations have escalated distribution of shelter, blankets and garments after the ceasefire commenced, but they have said there is still not enough aid entering.
"Officials are striving constantly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so immense that we still have a great number of families and children who are genuinely suffering each evening," cautioned one representative.
Future Issues and Truce Plans
The next stage of the agreement involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of troops, and other conditions.
Aid groups have underscored the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to respond to pressing and future needs."
The war was initiated by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Following campaigns have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, as per health ministry data.
