Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
